The SCG, located in Moore Park, is one of Australia’s premier sporting venues. It is the world’s fourth oldest cricket ground and regularly hosts Test, Twenty20, and One Day International matches.

In 1875, the NSW Cricket Association took control of the SCG and in February 1882 hosted its inaugural Test match between Australia and England. Soon after, new grandstands were constructed alongside two spectator mounds known as The Hill and Paddington Hill – later to be known as Cricket Hill and Lawson Hill respectively.
In the 1920s and 1930s, thousands of fans packed into Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to watch Don Bradman play for New South Wales and Australia. At this time, the ground underwent major redevelopment with a new stand added at its northern end.
It is a spin-friendly ground
Sydney Cricket Ground is known to be Australia’s most spin-friendly ground, making it a prime location to watch the Ashes.
Over the years, the SCG has hosted numerous Ashes Test matches; most of these matches ended in draws. However, one match that went in favour of Asia was 1995 when Pakistan claimed victory at their final Test at home to seal the series victory.

The Sydney Cricket Ground plays host to the Pink Test, Australia’s largest sporting fundraising event. Throughout this special Test, cricket fans don pink attire in order to raise funds for breast cancer patients across Australia.
Since 2009, the SCG has been the driving force behind this fundraising initiative. It has raised an incredible $17 million, providing funding for McGrath Breast Care Nurses across Australia.
On day three of the Pink Test, Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) turns pink in honor of Glen and Jane McGrath Foundation while raising money. It’s an absolutely breathtaking sight!
However, it’s not without its problems. Six of the last seven Tests at the SCG have been cancelled due to rain, with four ending in draws. According to ABC statistician Ric Finlay, 25 days of Test cricket have been lost due to weather at this Australian venue – far more than any other Australian venue.
